The Queen of Chocolate – Chocolate Mix:  Recipes and Serving Suggestions

We’ve tried these recipes with both water and milk.  You can also try half and half, soy milk, almond milk, coconut milk, coconut water or any other liquid.  Before committing to any alternate liquid, experiment with a very small amount of mix to be sure you like the taste.

For treats other than beverages, be careful to add liquid slowly, in small amounts to achieve desired textures.  You'll need less liquid than you think.  Work the mix and liquid together vigorously; as the liquid is worked in the chocolate will take on a glossy sheen.  If you add too much liquid, sprinkle in more chocolate mix and re-blend.

If you have recipes you'd like to share, send them in.

Enjoy!

NEW!!! This just in from Bethany Smith of the North Quincy Farmer's Market:

Choco-Nutty Banana Shake (makes 2 servings)

8-10 ice cubes (depending on how frothy you like your shakes)

1 cup organic soy or 1% milk (for a lower fat treat) or whole milk (if you like it rich)!

1/3 cup organic, salt free peanut butter

1 banana broken into 3 sections

2 tablespoons of Queen of Chocolate powder (can use up to a half of a cup if you like really chocolatey shakes)

2 tablespoons of Honey (for a little extra sweetness, especially if you use unsweetened soy milk which I highly recommend)

Blend and enjoy!

Chocolate Soda

In a large, tall glass, mix ¼ cup The Queen of Chocolate – Chocolate Mix with a small amount of water to create a thick syrup.

Start slowly pouring  12 oz. club soda into glass, stirring to dissolve chocolate.

Beverage will rise up in a frothy, chocolaty foam.

Use a spoon for the foam and a straw to sip the drink.

Add more club soda as foam is depleted.

Make sure to use the spoon to get every bit of chocolate from the bottom of the glass.

Chocolate Milk

In 8 oz. glass, blend ¼ cup The Queen of Chocolate  - Chocolate Mix with a small amount of water to create a thick syrup.

Add cold milk and stir to dissolve chocolate.

Mix small amounts of water (or liquid of your choice) into ½ cup The Queen of Chocolate – Chocolate Mix until mixture is smooth, creamy and spreadable.

Transfer chocolate to a pretty bowl.

Place shortbread cookies and whole strawberries on a pretty plate.

Dip shortbread cookies and whole strawberries in the chocolate, double and triple dipping to your heart’s content.

This is a great dessert for any kind of party.  Mix more chocolate as needed.  Be prepared for your guests to ask for more!

Fudge Treat

In a small bowl, add water A FEW DROPS AT A TIME to ¼ cup The Queen of Chocolate Mix and begin blending with a spoon.

Continue to add small amounts of water until desired consistency is achieved.  Mix will become smoother as you blend so be careful not to add water prematurely.

When mixture is  thick and fudgy, spoon onto a small, pretty plate or bowl and eat with a tiny spoon.

For a richer treat, blend with milk, half and half or cream, or your favorite dairy substitute.

“Pudding” Treat

Follow instructions for Fudge Treat, (substituting creamy liquid of your choice), adding liquid SLOWLY and blending until mixture is the consistency of pudding.

Spoon into a small, pretty bowl and top with honey sweetened whipped cream.

“Truffles”

Blend ¼ cup The Queen of Chocolate – Chocolate Mix with 1 generous teaspoon liquid of your choice (we love Bailey’s Irish Cream).

Take 1/2 teaspoon or 1 teaspoon portions of Fudge Treat and roll into balls (depending on what size truffle you want).

Roll balls in The Queen of Chocolate Mix, finely ground nuts, finely ground coconut or whatever suits your fancy.

Serve on a pretty plate.

Hot Chocolate

In mug, blend ¼ cup The Queen of Chocolate – Chocolate Mix with small amount of water to make a thick syrup.

Add 8 oz. hot water or milk and stir to dissolve chocolate.

Top with Beverage Topping if desired.

Beverage Topping

Heat ¼ cup half and half or cream until steamy (approximately 40 seconds on high in microwave or on stovetop in small pan).

Stir in 1 teaspoon raw honey until dissolved.

Blend with battery powered whisk until foamy.

Spoon over hot beverage (tops one or two beverages depending upon cup size and desired creaminess).
